Press Release - Forum’s response to the deferred re-designation

Updated: Jan 4, 2022

The Forum’s response to the deferred re-designation of the Shoreham Beach Neighbourhood Forum (SBNF)

The Shoreham Beach Neighbourhood Forum Management Committee was disappointed that the Councils’ Joint Strategic Committee (JSC) was not able to agree the recommendation of Adur Council planning officers that SBNF should be re-designated to resume community engagement in order to complete the preparation of a statutory Neighbourhood Plan over the next 12-18 months. Unfortunately, the decision has been delayed, (and referendums cannot take place until May 2021 due to Covid-19).

Statement from SBNF chairman: David Collins

“I’m proud of the hard work done by so many volunteers over the years to get the Neighbourhood Plan to this point. Yes, I acknowledge that it certainly has not been all plain sailing and we have had some setbacks. We’ve made some pragmatic decisions and let go of some of the more ambitious ideas. What we need now is a little more time and funding so that we can re-engage with the community, face-to-face, to present the work done since the last Have Your Say Day and then amend the Draft Plan for submission to Adur Council

We simply ask fair-minded Shoreham residents, particularly those living on the Beach, to do one thing. Visit our website at http://bit.ly/sbnf-plan-latest. There you will find the June 2019 version of the Draft Plan) and see the quantity and quality of work so far Secondly, you will also see a link to all previous drafts, proposed planning maps, design codes and surveys, Thirdly, look at the status page to see how far we’ve come and the comparatively small amount of work still required to complete the Plan."
